What Makes Us Different

What Makes Us Different

We understand your desire to seek the best possible orthodontic care for you or your child and to meet your expectations; we take your smile personally. This means that we treat each patient as a unique human being and we care about each individual. We also make sure that each patient is completely satisfied with the end result. To help us accomplish your desires, we exert our effort and passion in 3 different areas:

We Are High-Tech

Dr. Charles Brodsky
  • A computerized, "paperless" office – All charts and patient information is available anywhere in the office, increasing efficiency. Your time is valuable, and our integrated GPS software helps us run on time.
  • Digital 3D imaging with iCAT – Reduces the number of radiographs (X-rays) needed for a complete diagnostic orthodontic workup to only ONE. The iCAT is more advanced than new 2D digital X-rays and offers better quality images as well as a greater diagnostic capability, which ultimately means a shorter treatment time for our patients.
  • A digital patient rewards system – Points are given at each visit to motivate patients to do things which are beyond the control of the doctor. This program is fun for patients of all ages and it is accessible through the internet. Prizes and gift cards can be purchased with the reward points.
  • Online patient account information – Patients have secure online access to their scheduled appointments, records, payment history, and Invisalign® virtual treatment plans.
We Are Highly Qualified
  • Three orthodontic specialists – The benefit of having up to three doctors in the office at the same time is tremendous. Although both Dr. Brodskys and Dr. Van Allen have very similar treatment philosophies, the doctors routinely confer with each other to establish definitive treatment plans in their patients' best interests.
  • All three doctors are Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics – A distinction attained by only 33% of orthodontists in the country.
  • We are up to date – All three doctors attend many hours of continuing education each year and continually incorporate the latest research into their treatment plans and philosophies.
  • We teach other orthodontists about our area of expertise - Dr. Joel Brodsky has lectured on orthodontic technology for many years and is one of the leading speakers at the upcoming American Association of Orthodontics Meeting in Washington, DC (Spring of 2010). His current area of concentration is in teaching orthodontists how to use the ICAT to achieve better treatment results. Dr. Charles Brodsky has given many full-day courses (throughout the United States) on the placement and utilization of TADs (temporary “orthodontic” anchorage devices) also known as “pins.”
  • We are experienced – Dr. Joel Brodsky established Brodsky Orthodontics in Lakewood, CA in 1976. He is still here, along with his son. We were one of the first offices in the US to use Invisalign® in 1999 and our doctors have won two major awards from Invisalign. The latest award was attained by Dr. Charles Brodsky at the most recent Invisalign Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada. He won the award for OUTSTANDING CASE PRESENTATION.
We Focus on People

Dr. Joel Brodsky
  • Treatment is tailored to each patient's individual needs – Care and consideration are taken by the doctor and staff to treat each patient as an individual and not a "cookie cutter" treatment approach where every patient receives the same treatment modality regardless of their chief reasons for seeking orthodontic care.
  • A commitment to communication at each visit – We make a conscious effort to update you about you or your child's treatment at every appointment. Patients and parents are kept abreast about treatment and if it is progressing according to schedule.
  • We take the time to listen – Our doctors and staff will always take the time to answer your questions or return a phone call.
  • We believe in improving the overall health of our patients through orthodontics – Our goal is to not only improve the aesthetics of your smile, but to improve the health of your teeth and gums. We communicate closely with your general dentist as to the status of your orthodontic care and updates on your oral hygiene and health. Quality orthodontic treatment together with routine dental care helps to ensure that the teeth will function correctly and stay in proper alignment for a lifetime.
  • A fun office environment – Video games, contests, seasonal decorations and events keep the atmosphere fun.
